You Want The Truth?

we attempt to hide behind pretty words
and cover up with simple stories
but it's hardly seen
that someone say the truth
letting it flow out strong
a river that carries a truth yet accepted
the thing is,
two simple words;
same love
has given to others such a harmful scene
hatred has spread
riots were thrown
and relationships torn
but why?
nothing changed
people are the same
after all
we're human...
we share emotions,
the feeling of shy love
that blossoms into something more
and moments,
that lingering hug
and the first goodnight kiss
and memories,
heartaches and pains
and mistakes we've made
yet many stand and say
"Phase"
yet I'm in love with a girl
and to me
her smile makes my day brighter
her laugh lightens my heart
her eyes catch mine
and my heart flutters
her words fill my beings
and her touch lights me on fire
so, pray tell
what makes my love a phase
some stand and say it's a choice,
but I didn't walk past her
and out of a crowd of people
point my finger
and say
that one, I choose you
you worry about our sudden change
but really
feelings don't change as sudden
as the time on a clock
just because I've made my way out
and told about my love
doesn't mean I've become any different
I didn't go through some miraculous change
we're still the same
inside and outside
just a little bit happier to get this
weight off our chests
we are still...
      your daughter or son
      your mother or father
      still your friend
accept it of fight it
it's still your opinion
but believe it or not
